Graphics, 9.5. Superb in comparison to other MMO’s of the times.
Audio, 7.0. Adequate, but nothing that stands out.
Gameplay, 8.5. For most parts, enjoyable and unique.
Value for money, 7.0. Free-to-play, Moderate Premium, P2LG, P2W.

Overall positives
Combat.
+1
3 different styles to choose from, basically tab-target, Free-Aim and something in-between.
+1
Mounted/Unmounted combat gives many different playing styles. Dizzy amount of skills to choose from, too many to put on 2 bars. Combo-skills.
Character appearance.
+1
Player costumes look great.
-1
Costume customisation really doesn’t exist. A Simple dye system like GW2 had would help wonders.
Mounts.
+2
Mount Skins look amazing, so many different ones.
+1
Flying and Ground mounts are fun to use.
+1
Many unique features related to progression.
+1
Mounts have armour and progression, plus more.
-1
Constant need to use familiar energy potions or fall out of the sky.
Unless you have premium (20 free potions per day) this is a gold sink.
Pets.
+2
Any mount can be converted into a pet, and there are so many choices.
+2
Pets have many different abilities, attack, defend, collect. Progression, armour and more.
Auction House.
+1
The game has a AH, this is always a +1
+2
The AH is pretty populated and has all the basic features.
+1
Titles that give you a fee discount, unique.
-1
20% listing fee and 20% selling fee for Non-Premium, little too high.
-1
It could be a little more user friendly, for instant you must use a Capital letter in each word when searching, if you don’t, the search returns nothing. Searching the AH is not easy.
NPC’s.
+1
NPC interaction is adequate, although pretty simple at times.
+2
Some nice cut scenes, but they get a bit tedious and you find yourself spamming ESC in dungeons.
-1
In general the game could have done more to make the NPC more interactive.
Crafting, Gathering.
+1
Gathering is adequate.
+1
The crafting system in general is pretty good.
+1
Crafting ties in with taming mounts, and other things.
Distinctiveness.
+2
The mount/pet system in this game is like no other.
+1
The way crafting, mounts and gear progression are all uniquely tied into one.
Dungeons/Raids.
+2
There are many dungeons.
+2
There are 4 tiers with 5 levels each, for each dungeon.
+1
The game has raids, thats always a +1
+1
Dungeons after level 25 have improved in difficulty and uniqueness. Although still nothing amazing.
-1
Loot rules and systems could be explained better and improved.
Navigation.
+1
Getting around is pretty simple and fast using the transit stone and/or recall stone for a small fee.
+1
Open World, with minimal instances. Travel fast via flying mount.
-1
Game based around flying yet many invisible walls blocking travel across some parts of maps.
+0
Premium users get around faster and for free. Mixed feelings about premium perks.
Maps.
+2
Maps are adequate and Simple to use.
-1
Lacking a better zoom functionality on both the main map and mini-map.
Bugs.
+3
Level 40 (150 hours into game) and haven’t yet come across any serious bugs, or lag.
UI.
+3
Interface UI is pretty clean, nicely laid out and mostly user friendly.
+1
UI is customisable, also has many keystroke menus and functions.
-1
Quests log could be optimised based on distance for example.
-1
Chat window could do with work, I never even notice when I get a PM.
Gear Progression.
+1
Dungeon gear seems to flow nicely. Constant upgrades.
+1
Gear is upgradable, and can mostly be broke down to further upgrade other gear.
+1
You can add familiars to your gear slots. Yes, pets/mounts can be converted into stats that you can slot into your gear.
+3
Lots of variation in gear rarity and randomised stats. Only recently realised just how important the random stats are, this makes min-maxing interesting, also the keen eye can make a lot of gold on market with stat combos.
-1
Doesn’t seem to be any point of White/Blue gear?
Game Progression.
+1
Most of the Joey quests have been reasonable, collect 3-5 or kill 3-5.
+1
Storyline so far has been OK. Nothing super special, but is adequate.
+0
Level 35-40 in Tritael Rift got a little tedious and boring. Kind of over-killed the fun of flying for me.
Longevity.
+1
Having a lot of fun so far, and I keep coming back for more. (150 Hours into the game)
Inventory, Banking.
+2
Average bag space is adequate when upgraded, 24 Slots + 4 Bags (16 Slots each) = 88 Slots
+2
Average Bank Space is adequate when fully upgraded to 160 Slots.
+1
Has very little restrictions as to what can be stored in the bank.
-2
Long process to earn enough Ellun to fully upgrade bank and inventory, with the option to Pay2Expand cash shop Ellun purchases.
Achievement System.
+2
Pretty good achievement system, currently 518 total achievements to get.
-1
The system to retrieve achievement rewards could be improved/explained better.
Overall negative
Boss Fights.
-1
Dodging doesn’t seem to be a thing in this game when it comes to boss fights, some bosses do a frontal attack that seems to hit you no matter what, no point moving, running or dodging because you’re getting hit either way. Could be much better.
+0
Boss fights have improved after level 30 but still nothing special yet.
Cash Shop.
-1
Its immediately obvious that a lot of time has been put into the cash shop.
-1
Aspects of Pay-to-look-good (mount skins for example).
-1
Aspects of Pay-to-Win.
-3
Pay for chance RNG boxs, a personal hate.
+1
Can buy most stuff for “Ellun” that can be earned in game. Although very slowly.
Player Interaction.
-1
2 weeks into the game and I’ve not had much interaction with other player at all.
-1
I’ve soloed every dungeon up to this point. Story, Elite and Heroic dungeons up to level 35.
-1
Game doesn’t feel as if its pushing me towards player co-op as much as it could.
+1
A kind level 55 German player ran me though a dungeon on heroic after I’d waited on the dungeon board for a long while, he then gave me a full set of level 40 legendary gear for free.
Party System.
-1
Still not been introduced to the party/que system at level 40, because it doesn’t really exist.
-2
Party que system in this game needs much work. It pretty much consists of a bulletin board.
Guilds.
-1
Level 40 and not seen much guild recruiting, and the game hasn’t really pointed me into the direction of joining one.
-1
Despite using Ellum to buy shouts, still I’ve failed to find a predominantly English guild. Seems only to be 4-5 big guilds on my server, and they are either not recruiting, or are mostly non-English.
Premium.
+1
Reasonable priced. Approx. £7 per month, or £22 per 3 months
+1
Premium features are very useful, transit stone, portable bank and AH, daily potions.
-2
They sell you NX (currency used to buy premium amongst other things). The set amounts of NX you can buy are always just under the amount you need for Premium Package. Example, 3 months premium costs 29,900 NX, £20 buys you 28,000 NX (almost enough). So you either have to purchase £20+£5 bundle or £30 for 42,000 NX. Simple cash option to buy premium would be better, or more quantity options when buying NX.
-1
Split Prepaid/Credit. It’s all NX, why should I have to choose one or the other. I have enough NX to purchase something but I can’t because half is in Prepaid and the other in Credit???
-1
Obviously, the buy NX, to buy premium is just a lure to get you to spend your spare NX in the shop.
-1
Game screams out, buy Premium/Ellum. Don’t get me wrong, the game must make money. Just seems they push the sell a little too much. Without premium the gold sink of the game is off-putting.
+1
Above being said, the game is good enough to get me to buy premium, and a small amount of Ellum. But I feel, I would have purchased more by now if it wasn’t pushed upon me the way it is.
Verdict at level 40
After a further 10 levels the game has gained +7 points and lost -7 points from my original rating, so its overall score hasn’t changed at all. I’m still loving the game. So how have my opinions changed at level 40?.

Levelling from 35-40 got really boring, but what game grind doesn’t. I just feel like I’ve been in Tritael Rift forever, flying was a lot of fun until I came here at around level 35, now I’ve pretty much had enough of the mounted combat (flying at least) for a while.

Flying mount combat feels very slow and single target orientated, which makes killing 10 of these and 15 of them, like 50 times during the past 5 levels very tedious. Add to that the constant need to use familiar energy potions or fall out of the sky.

Unless you have premium (20 free potions per day) this is a big gold sink and annoying too if you forget to top-up. There are orbs that you can fly through to recovers energy, and some that give you speed, and some that give you de-buffs. None of which was explained in questing. So many kill this, collect that quests, they could have changed one to a quest that told you to fly through each of the orbs a few times so you got the general idea early on.

I’ve realised that everyone looks the same, they have spent so much time and effort into mounts and very little into costume customisation. I would even settle for a dye system like that GW2 had, at least you could look a little different from everyone else. Again, pushing you towards the cash shop costumes.

I was wondering at one point why someone was selling X item of gear for 10gold, and another person was selling the same item at 100gold. It was only when I sat down and looked at my gear stats and the ones on the action house, that I realised just how much the stats differ, and how one ring that was cheap was pretty useless to me, but the one with double intelligence for example was much more expensive. It was at this point I realised how much min-maxing was in the game.

This also lead my to do a little google research on my build, gear, hard and soft caps etc. All of which I enjoy doing in general.

Without boring you to death, not much else has changed except I realised that there isn’t really any traditional que system which is disappointing for me, some may like the party finder system just the way it is. But not me. I’ve tried posting but never get anywhere. Only a handful of players use it and 99% are level 55 raids/dungeons.

All-in-all still an enjoyable game so far.
